 Safia began her career as a Registered Nurse, dedicating 15 years to treating patients at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in London. Her expertise and commitment earned her the respect of her colleagues and patients, making her a trusted figure within the community.

However, when her brother suddenly became paralysed due to a traumatic incident, Safia’s world changed. After he was discharged from hospital, the standard of care he was receiving at home was disheartening. Despite his complex needs, the carers failed to see beyond his words when he said he was “fine.” As such, his pain and discomfort were often overlooked, and he was frequently left in undignified situations.

As both a nurse and a sister, Safia could not ignore what was happening. She decided to pause her nursing career and take on the role of a full-time carer. It was during this challenging and eye-opening experience that she began to truly understand what high-quality, compassionate, and dignified care should look like, particularly at home, where people are most vulnerable. This experience led to the beginnings of Caring Lane. 

Safia founded Caring Lane with a clear and heartfelt mission. To ensure no individual would ever feel misunderstood or neglected in their time of need. Drawing from her clinical background and her experience as a carer, she set out to create a care agency that is not just professional but profoundly human.

Eight years on, Caring Lane has grown into a community-rooted care provider that treats every client as family. Safia’s vision has always been to offer more than just care, to build something deeply personal and culturally sensitive. She recognises that kindness and understanding must lie at the heart of every home visit and care plan, and therefore, Caring Lane was designed with compassion at its core. 

Safia has created a culture that appreciates and embraces individuals from all backgrounds and builds bridges between generations. Whether it’s preparing a familiar meal or simply knowing when to listen, Caring Lane understands the unique lives of those it supports.

Beyond her impact on clients and their families, Safia is also passionate about empowering the next generation of carers. She has mentored and trained many individuals entering the care profession, particularly from underrepresented backgrounds, providing them not only with knowledge and practical skills but also with the values that define exceptional care.

Through her work, Safia has reshaped what care at home can look like.  Not just competent, but compassionate, and a relationship that is rooted in trust and respect.
